Area 100 - KSA

"Area 100 - Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes" (Area 100 - KSA) is a new subject in ATPL theoretical training. The subject is not a part of CAA theoretical knowledge exams, but will instead be assessed at the ATO level.

Area 100 - KSA is designed to assess the students knowledge, skills and attitudes throughout a theoretical training course with the aim of improving the students core competencies:

  • Communication;

  • Leadership and teamwork;

  • Problem-solving and decision-making;

  • Situation awareness;

  • Workload management;

  • Application of procedures, and to;
  • Develop their knowledge and understanding of all subject matters prior to commencing advanced training.

The subject also covers:

  • Threat and Error Management (TEM);
  • Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), and;
  • Mental Maths.

"Area 100 - KSA" is not a part of CAA theoretical knowledge exams. Before being recommended by an ATO to sit their final examination paper at the first attempt (in CAA exams), the student shall have successfully completed all the applicable "Area 100 – KSA" summative assessments and mental maths test at their ATO.
