New regulation on the obligation to check COVID-19 certificates in connection with international flights
A new regulation No. 1669/2021 on the obligation to check COVID-19 certificates in connection with international flights, will take effect on 1 January 2022.
According to the regulation aircraft operators are no longer obliged to deny passenger of carriage if they have not fulfilled the obligation to pre-register or if they cannot present required certificate or attestation before boarding.
Obligation of aircraft operators is now to:
1. Check whether their passengers have fulfilled the obligation to pre-register and that they have the required approved certificate
2. Notify Icelandic Police Authority of passengers arriving without required documents.
3. Inform passengers about the possible consequences of not being pre-registered and not having the required certificates.
Notifications of passengers who are unable to present the required documents must be sent in to the e-mail address: lss.kefairport@police.is
